WELFARE, GUIDANCE & COUNSELLING
Learner Services can offer impartial advice and assistance with any situation that is interfering with a learner’s studies, for example, financial difficulties, accommodation problems, health matters or issues of a personal nature. Where necessary, learners will be offered a referral to an external agency. The service is completely confidential and available to all learners.

Learners at the College currently have access to a counsellor from the Counselling Unit at Strathclyde University. Person Centred Counselling is a process that enables and encourages individuals to resolve their own difficulties within the relationship with the counsellor. Learners can make an appointment by contacting Learner Services.

A range of free leaflets and booklets is available from Learner Services covering topics such as learner finance, careers information, family planning, sexual health, safer drug use, social security benefits and housing rights.

CAREERS ADVICE
Learners can access careers guidance services including advice on progression routes, assistance to apply to university and advice on job seeking, CV design and interview skills. There is a range of career related information in The Learning Curve, including various computerised careers packages, careers related Internet sites, addresses of local companies, University prospectuses and a range of career related books and CD-Roms.

ACCOMMODATION
Learners who require accommodation are invited to obtain an accommodation pack from Learner Services. This pack has up-to-date details of local properties available to rent. However, inclusion on the pack does not carry nor imply any recommendation by the College and learners’ are asked to satisfy themselves as to the suitability of the accommodation before entering into agreements with landlords.
