KEY FEATURES

The aim of this course is to provide a qualification relevant to the modern tourism marketplace while providing appropriate vocational skills for entry into supervisory and management positions in a wide range of tourism and travel organisations.

OTHER INFORMATION
Learners will have the opportunity to study languages as part of their course. Study visits will be offered.

COURSE CONTENT
A selection of core units includes:
Structure of the Travel and Tourism Industry; Marketing; Providing Information on The Scottish Tourism Product; Customer Care; Tour Operations; Visitor Attraction Operations; Planning and Sustainable Development in Tourism.

A selection of optional units includes:
A range of options relevant to the industry are offered in addition to units in Spanish, French, German and Italian.

ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
Two Higher Grade passes at grade C or above including English or a relevant alternative and two other passes at Standard Grade (or equivalent) at band 3 or above.

PROGRESSION

Successful learners may progress into direct entry to 3rd year at various universities. BA International Travel (or Hospitality) and Tourism Enterprise at Glasgow Caledonian University now only admits learners into 3rd year with an HND; BA Tourism at the University of the West of Scotland; and BA Tourism at the University of Stirling.  Learners are also prepared for entry into supervisory or management positions in the Tourism industry.
