ITD - HNC Information Technology
HNC Information Technology

KEY FEATURES

The majority of businesses around the world, of all sizes, will make use of an integrated office suite to organise their information systems.  The Microsoft Office suite is the most commonly used by all, whether in the work place or at home.  As a result, there is a great demand for staff with skills in using such suites, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases and presentation packages to design, create, manage and present all aspects of a company's information.  This Higher National programme specialises in developing these skills taking you to advanced levels in all of these applications and in particular concentrating on how to develop complete and meaningful information systems using databases.  Such skills will open up a wide range of opportunities in many companies, wherever an office suite is used.

PROGRESSION
As mentioned above, successful completion of this course will prepare you for trainee posts in a wide range of IT functions including both the design and management of a company?s information base; and also prepare you for careers in office systems support.  Successful completion of the HNC will also provide you with the entry qualifications required for direct entry into the 2nd year of the HND in Information Technology or one of a range of related degree programmes in Information Technology at Glasgow Caledonian University, and the University of the West of Scotland, both on a part-time and a full-time basis.
