KEY FEATURES This course includes: skin care and eye treatments, hairstyling and make-up techniques, ranging from basic to fashion and photographic make-up. Learners also study subjects in relation to customer care and software applications. Learners are encouraged to participate in demonstrations that arise throughout the course to aid development.
COURSE CONTENT A selection of core units includes:
Make-Up Artistry: Basic Make-Up; Skin Care and Eye Treatments; Fashion and Photographic Make-Up; Principles and Practice of Selling; Long Hair Design; Graded Unit and Using Software Applications Packages.
EQUIPMENT REQUIRED FOR THIS COURSE Learners require to purchase a kit comprising of make-up and tools necessary for class work. Purchase of a portfolio and plastic inserts is necessary for storage of photographs of completed hair and make-up looks. As part of the Graded Unit, learners require the services of a photographer as photographs of completed make-up looks must be produced to a professional standard for assessment purposes.
ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
A background in Hairdressing and or Beauty is necessary at National Qualification level. Applicants should possess National Qualification in Beauty Care or National Certificate in Hairdressing or a National Qualification which combines hairdressing and beauty modules (1 year full-time). Applicants require to be familiar with computers and have good keyboard skills. Entry to the course will be upon successful interview with the Course Leader.
Progression to HND Make-up Artistry or alternatively employment within an established Hairdressing, Make-Up or Beauty business or self employment as a Freelance Make-Up Artist.
