Central College is approved to offer OCR text processing awards covering a full range of office skills, such as:
Shorthand (Teeline) - Beginners and Speed Development (will run all year)
Speed Keying (Block 1) Text Processing - Level 2 (Block 1) Word Processing - Level 2 (Block 2) Medical Text Processing - Level 2 (Block 2) Audio Transcription - Level 2 (Block 3) Medical Audio Transcription (Block 3)
The above units are certified by OCR. This qualification was updated in October 2008, and is suitable for candidates who are already employed in text processing or admin related job roles and who wish to further develop their knowledge and expertise in this area.
Text processing (Block 1) develops candidates' understanding of a range of business documents and the conventions used in their production and presentation. Text processing also develops candidates? skills in using a keyboard and keyboard functions. Greater manipulation of software (currently Microsoft Office 2007) is required for Word Processing units at Level 2 (Block 2). For those who wish to gain a speed endorsement, the Speed Keying unit is available. For those working in a health care, medical environment the specialist units of Medical Word Processing and Medical Audio Transcription are available.
Shorthand (Teeline) is a valuable skill for Administrators, Clerks, Reporters and PA's. Teeline is today's most successful shorthand system. The course is designed for those who wish to learn Teeline quickly. (Blocks, 1, 2 and 3).

£500 accounts - If you are studying a part-time higher education course such as an Higher National Certificate (HNC), Higher National Diploma (HND) or a Degree course at ILA Scotland approved colleges or universities. You must be studying 50% or more of the time needed to complete a full-time course.
