KEY FEATURES This advanced level course includes beauty therapy and management skills, and aims to produce highly qualified and competent therapists. Participants will develop a comprehensive understanding of facial and body problems whilst applying treatments within a salon environment. Throughout the course learners develop analytical skills, devise suitable treatment plans and evaluate the effectiveness of the treatments.
COURSE CONTENT A selection of core units includes:
Management and Practices of Facial Therapies; Management and Practices of Body Therapies; Anatomy and Physiology; Product Knowledge; Lifestyle Advice for Clients; Employment Experience; Contemporary Electrotherapy.
ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
Two Higher grade passes at grade C or above, one of which must be English, and two other passes at standard grade (or equivalent) at band 3 or above, to include a science subject. Alternatively, completion of a National Qualification in Beauty (to include Communication at Higher, and appropriate science and vocational modules), and/or a Scottish Vocational Qualification (level 3) Beauty Therapy.
LEARNERS WITH ALTERNATIVE ENTRANCE QUALIFICATIONS Candidates without formal qualifications are unlikely to gain entry to the course. However, the decision may rest on an interview in the first instance and entry will be at the discretion of the College Principal.
Learners who successfully complete the course may seek employment in beauty spas or salons, on cruise liners, or providing in-flight treatments. There may be opportunities to open a business, or to provide a mobile service. Senior and/or managerial posts may also be available to HND qualified therapists.
